Most Unsafe Cars in India 2024

In recent years, awareness regarding car safety has spread in India, but some models still lag behind in important safety features.

Some vehicles have received very low ratings in the global NCAP test. In today’s blog, we are going to talk about the most unsafe cars available in India. These cars have not performed well in the global NCAP test and have received low ratings.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco

This car was tested in 2016, and it scored 0 stars for adult occupant protection and 2 stars for child occupant safety. The Eaco is a budget-friendly 5-seater minivan. This car has a spacious cabin and a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine. The base price of this car starts from Rs 5.29 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

The company had introduced this car as a micro-SUV, but this car could not get more than a 1 star rating in the global NCAP test. This car has scored 20.03 out of 34 in adult occupant protection and has scored only 3.52 in child occupant protection. The base price of this car starts from Rs 4.91 lakh.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

This car is very popular in the hatchback segment, and this car has scored only 2 stars in the global NCAP test. Talking about adult occupant protection, it has got a score of 7.05 out of 17, and if we talk about child occupant protection, it has got only 15 out of 49. The base price of this car starts from Rs 5.92 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

This car is also in the hatchback segment, and the safety testing of the car has been done recently (2023), in which it has got 2 star rating for adult occupant protection with score 21.67 out of 34 and, sadly, a 0 star rating for child occupant protection with score of 3.52 out of 49. The base price of this car starts from Rs 4 lakh. But this car is discontinued in India. The model was not updated to comply with the BS6 emission norms.

Renault Kwid

kwid

The next car is the Renault Kwid; this is also a very popular car in this segment, which you can get on a low budget. Kwid’s NCAP rating is based on older testing protocols, which gives the car a 2-star rating. But if you see the Latin NCAP testing report, the car has performed well and has achieved a 3-star rating. The base price of this car starts from Rs 4.70 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

Among the cars mentioned above, this is also a popular car in the budget segment. We all know that the WagonR is one of the best-selling cars of Maruti. But its safety ratings are disappointing. This car got 1-star rating for adult occupant protection (19.69 points) and 0-star rating for child occupant protection (3.40 points). The base price of this car starts from Rs 5.55 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

swift

Swift car has made a huge contribution to reaching the position Maruti Suzuki has reached today. This car has given very tough competition in this segment of automobiles, but if we talk about its safety rating, then it is a bit of a pain. This car has undergone a global NCAP test in 2022, and the score it has achieved is very disappointing. It has received a 1-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection. It has garnered 19.19 points out of a possible 34 for adults and 16.68 out of 49 for children. The base price of this car starts from Rs 5.99 lakh.

This rating is for the 3rd generation Swift. The recently launched 4th generation Swift may perform slightly better because the company has made some changes to its safety standards.

All these cars fall into the category of the most unsafe cars in India. But now news has come that, in some time, Bharat NCAP is going to be launched, which will test the cars keeping in mind the roads and safety standards of India.

It is possible that the cars that could not score well in the Global NCAP test may perform well in the Bharat NCAP.
